SCAM ALERT! Do not use David Smith Custom Builders. We paid him a big deposit up front for a deck job back in July. He tore down our old deck down and only did a fourth of the work. Still waiting on stairs, railing, decking, a roof, screen... Came back asking for more money to get the rest of the supplies, which sadly we gave, and he never came back. Workers came sporadically then stopped all together. Left a 9 foot drop off out of our kitchen door. Also, his work is out of code and now he has filed bankruptcy!!! He has no remorse for the devastation he has left families in trying to pick up the pieces from his mess. We have learned he has done this to DOZENS of people in Jasper, Kimberly, Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, Hoover, Alabaster and Pelham. It will break your heart to hear the stories of the money he has stolen from the elderly, by people with young children and hard working families. Search his name on Facebook and you will find a post of all the horror stories just like mine... unfinished work and people out of THOUSANDS of dollars. I don't want anyone else to lose money and deal with the stress we have dealt with. Run for the hills if you hear is name, dealing with him has been an absolute train wreck!!!

David has been paid for a month and has been to the property to build maybe 2 times. His "crew" shows up the same amount of times,, at 10:30, then stops at 12 for lunch. Then leave at 2. In the month, they have completed posts and holes. When reaching out to Mr Smith, he assured that it would be done the week after Thanksgiving. Here we are at December 13, no fence and no one out working on it. I would not recommend him nor would I hire him again.
