This is an alert about the very poor wood floor refinishing job at our house. It did start well with the workmen carefully masking the baseboards and lower walls of the house. The finish cured for five days and then we viewed it with Nick. It was shocking to see the piles of fuzzies in the finish. This debris was likely material such as old finish and sawdust from the sanding that was done. It was insulting to be told that it was "the way the light is hitting it". There were workers' footprints in the finish. Ther were pools of finish that looked as though the material had been spilled on the floor. The floor had to be re-done, which created a problem because the moving truck could not be unloaded. We also had to stay in a hotel an additional week, and other workers' schedules had to be postponed. Two weeks later, and we are still waiting for the other workers who are on other jobs they had previously scheduled. The most disappointing outcome is that the floors did not turn out well after the second refinishing. This second time, the painters did not mask the baseboards and the lower walls. Evidently the painters tried to avoid getting floor finish on the unmasked baseboards and walls and, therefore, they did not brush the finish all the way to the walls. This has left a very noticeable line around the perimeters of the rooms. There are many roller marks throughout, and there are areas that appear to have no finish at all. Very disappointing!
