The 16-lane alley, which was built in 1960, was bought by Mr. Patterson in the late 1970s. Since then it has undergone two major interior renovations, the most recent of which was in the mid-1990s. A complete resurfacing was done in the first phase of the project, and was completed by the Fourth of July.
