Neglectful. Misuse of Boarder's horses. Drama.
The owner believes she knows everything and can do anything she'd like. Boarders who've been there long term get whatever they want from the owner even if it is to the detriment of your horse. Almost every horse is underweight and under-muscled.
Example: Katherine's horse (long-term boarder) is 30 and needs to be retired, so she wanted to ride on another boarder's horse, so without that boarder's permission, Kim (the owner) told Katherine to start riding the horse. When the owner protested Kim said the horse needed a job so she was going to use her for lessons. The owner of the horse said she was not ok with that and Kim had their riding instructor start giving Katherine lessons on the horse without permission. The owner swiftly moved their horse to another barn, but this is highly illegal and the fact that Kim is brazen enough to do this shows how much she's gotten away with over the years.
Kim also claims horses will get adequate turnout while putting 6 horses in a .75 acre dry lot for 4 hours a day and says that's enough. The horses will get 2 flakes of hay for breakfast and dinner, there are plenty of times you will enter the barn mid-day and see almost all the horses are out of feed.
The horses in the dry lot are constantly fighting with one another because there is no grass and not enough hay for everyone to forage without getting in someone else's way.
If you come to the barn regularly, Kim won't turn out your horse since you're coming she expects that ride time is enough time outside of the stall to take the place of the time most horses would be out in the field.
Once you've settled in at the barn, Kim will constantly rely on you for favors: asking you to feed, water, let horses out, bring horses in, run a horse because it's going nuts in its stall from not having turnout, etc. and if you help one time be prepared she will ask for help every day to the point you will barely have time to spend with your horse.
