In 2002 we bought our first modular home from Nationwide. It was a great home & the plan we chose offered everything we wanted in the home we planned to spend the rest of our lives in. While the builder who was endorsed by Nationwide left a lot to be desired, the house was great! In April 2011 a tornado came through Gloucester County, where our first home was set and the tornado wiped it out . It was a horrific experience! After investigating we found that the house had not been fastened to the foundation at all! Something we wouldn't have known IF the tornado hadnt hit. We feel that Nationwide should hold some responsibility since they endorse the builders that sell & set their homes. The day after the tornado, a different builder that builds Nationwide homes approaced us on our property as we were rumaging through the rubble. He told us he could get us our house back. As we were still in shock & extremely emotional, this was exactly what we wanted to hear. We ended up contracting with him. Now we have the lemon of all lemons on our property. The windows are not set right, the framing done in factory is choppped up, floors out of level, & once again it is not fastened properly. Nationwide makes you pay before the house is built, & you buy from the builder, not them. So when you find the house is not right, you cant come after them, you have to go after the builder.
