Found a property to be built by Gilbert Homes. Contacted them about putting down a deposit. Walked in 10 days later to give them the money to find they raised the price $25k in the meantime and never told us. Believe it or not, it got worse from there. The house didn't appraise for anywhere near the price he demanded. Another appraisal he touted was also $7k lower than the original (not $25,000 higher) price. So we, I thought fairly, offered that price instead of the super-low price at which ours appraised, plus $30k in extras. He rejected that offer, insisting on an outrageous price that isn't even close to his own appraisal price. We might have worked with him on the price if he and his agent hadn't jerked us around from the start and I am disgusted that he might even get what he's asking for because it rewards his actions.
