Beware of this business. I do not recommend doing business with them. On December 2, 2015, I paid Luis Vargas as president of Used Eye Equipment for 3 pieces of used ophthalmic equipment he was to deliver and set up in my office. This equipment was to be "refurbished", in good working order, and come with a 1 year warranty. After almost 4 months of excruciating dealings with him, he finally sends me the three pieces of equipment. He only sent these things under the duress of legal action by me. However, the GDX did not work and could not be set up by his technician. The Topographer was not the model that we had agreed upon and the CPU unit that came with the topographer had all of the patient data from the previous physician that owned the equipment. In other words, it had not been refurbished by his company at all. The topographer came without its software so that if I had a problem with the CPU in the future, it would be useless to me (and again this was not the model that we agreed on). He arbitrarily changed the Topographer without discussing it with me. During these months, he refused to answer my phone calls regarding the whereabouts of my equipment. I have sent numerous emails to him regarding my dissatisfaction with the equipment and he refuses to refund my money. Today, I went to the address he has for the business and it was a strip mall in Aliso Viejo and there was no such business at that address.

I purchased a used GDx instrument in November 2016 and never received it or my money back despite many conversations and requests to the owner Luis Vargas. When I first inquired and showed interest in purchasing the instrument, Luis would call or email me just about daily. Once I sent him a check he showed no interest in getting me the instrument. When I called he would provide excuses and make empty promises. Eventually he stopped answering my calls and wouldn't respond to my emails. However, he picked up right away when I called using someone else's phone with a different area code. Of course, he just provided me more excuses and empty promises. To this day I have not received the equipment or my money back. I wish I would have read the reviews on his business before I sent my money. There seems to be a pattern in how Luis runs his business as he has done the same to me as he did to the other doctors who wrote reviews. Now I am forced to take legal action to get the over $5,500 he has stolen from me. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. He doesn't even deserve 1 star.

I am very pleased with the service and profecionalism that Luis and his team at Used Eye Equipment have demonstrated for my practice over these years. Specificly they fixed my older Marco autorefractor which was dead and now works better than new. They did a great job refurbishing this machine. I am very pleased with their work. I have other pieces of ophthalmic equipment which require repair and I will certainly ask them to help refurbish this equipment for me. The bottom line is if you have used equipment that needs service and you want to save some money rather than going to the manufacturers use these guys they are GREAT ! 5 STAR RECOMMENDATION !! -Arkady Kagan, M.D., Los Angeles, CA
