Wow. Being a Colorado citizen I have traveled through empire countless times and can not boast the beauty of the area and the friendly people I have been fortunate to encounter with my camping, fishing and prospecting trips ect. That all was pretty much ruined when I contacted the town hall about a inquiry for a small area of rental cabins before big Bend (the start of Berthoud pass) I was interested in these rentals and figured the town hall may have the contact info for these cabins or at least maybe point me in the direction to obtaining this info. After finding the town hall phone number tonight I called and a woman answered, after quickly describing my question I was told she was in a meeting and asked if she could call me back. I gave her my name and number and then was asked what I was even asking. I said I was looking for contact information on the properties and she said no. Umm bye. First of all if you are in a important meeting why pick up the phone, rude toward the entire staff of the meeting, then to be short and rude once answering really set me back. This request may not have been reasonable being that the rentals and town hall are in no way affiliated but the pure negative attitude and no help what so ever besides getting me off the phone was really somewhat shocking. I am taken back and made to rethink my experiences in this town. But i have to say I can't let one person ruin it. I also thought about what the property owner would think with no support his cit

THE TOWN MArshall (Glenn Hardey) is a person that feels he is excempt from regulation or responsibility from perfrorming his duties as required by his certification as a peace officer. i am a resident of Empire whos house was burglurized on Dec 15th 2016. i have been waiting for a policew report since then. i have contacted the mayor and other people within the govt to no avail. and then in retailiation my car was impounded. sinnce my birth cert and several titles were stolen i cannot prove ownership. they are more worried ABOUT MY PRIVATE LIFE THAN doing the required tasks.we will see how they feel when they lose their certifications

I love the town of Empire and have stopped there almost every trip we make up to Grand Lake with my kids every other weekend for years. I wanted to write about the struggle I have been having this summer. There is something wrong with the light cycles in town. This summer it has been taking me two hours each time I come home to get from Grand Lake to Empire. Traffic stops before you get to the bottom of the pass and it is stop and go barely moving at 5 mph from the pass until the town of Empire. It is because the light cycles in the town of Empire are too short and are stopping the traffic from getting through for no reason. We have had not had time to stop there anymore because by the time we get through there all we want to do is get home. I would think that the town would want to change this since it is very reliant on tourists and their business. I have NEVER had this problem until this summer and I cannot believe I am the only one that has posted about this problem. Usually there are more issues on I-70, nope, as soon as I make it past Empire and the lights stopping and slowing everyone down I-70 home has been a breeze even on the busiest of weekends.
