As a customer in need of a wheelchair for my mother, I have found that the customer service reps have little to no knowledge, training, or understanding of the health-related needs of many of their wheelchair customers. Over the course of 15 days, I had to call ABET Medical 12 times to try to get my mother's chair serviced. Her chair had no power, and it seemed impossible to get a concrete timeline for when the chair would be serviced. When the serviceman finally came out, he removed the control arm to my mother's electric chair and said he would get her a loaner. However, the customer service representative I spoke with initially could only see that there was a service call on April 7th 2023 but could not provide me with any additional information. I called ABET Medical numerous times after that, and each time I spoke with a representative, they seemed to have no information about my mother's chair or the service call. On the 14th day, I was told that I could get a rental if I got a new prescription, so I sent it in right away. However, it took two days to confirm that the prescription was on file. Even worse, the representative I spoke with on the 19th refused to escalate the call to a supervisor or provide me with any helpful information. He simply told me to allow the technician to search inventory to get a loaner arm control. Overall, my experience with ABET Medical has been incredibly frustrating and unhelpful. The lack of knowledge and training among customer service reps, combined with the slow response time, has made it nearly impossible to get my mother's chair serviced in a timely manner. I would not recommend this company to anyone, and I will be looking for other options for my mother's wheelchair needs.
