Very high prices. Considering that they live in an area with a very low standard of living and very high unemployment, the prices are outrageous. They must realize that they are competing with the Walmart in Ogdensburg, just 20-25 minutes away. For example, I paid $6 for a small package of Chips Ahoy chocolate chip cookies. Same package cost $3.99 at The Log Cabins, and $1.99 at Walmart. No wonder Hammond is a ghost town and the area has seen virtually every merchant go under in the last decade. People in the area can't afford the high prices.
