I started my martial arts journey a little over two years ago. My first night at TSMMA Wayne was a Wednesday night in late August. I had taken a beginner bag class where I learned the basic punching and kicking techniques. An hour later I was covered in sweat, my body was already sore, and I had never felt more accomplished in my life. This was the moment that I knew the martial arts was for me. Fast forward to present day- I am currently preparing myself for my second Challenge of Champions Tournament. I have always been a huge fan of the UFC but, never in a million years would I imagine that I would be competing in tournaments myself; let alone learning the same techniques and skills that these elite athletes use to prepare for their fights. Over the past two years at TSMMA Wayne Sensei Zapfel, Joshu, and other staff have been nothing but encouraging, supportive, and... tough! I have never been pushed more in my life to achieve not only optimal fitness but also experiencing complete confidence in my ability of self defense. My overall attitude has changed. I feel safe, I feel strong, I feel fit. I could not imagine my life without this amazing family oriented school and amazing teachers in my life. I am excited to see where this martial arts journey continues to take me. Joining this school was one of the best decisions I've made!
