D.R. Ebel is a privately owned corporation that has been owned and operated by the same two principals (Dennis R. and Alice E.) since its inception in 1978. D.R. Ebel is a privately owned corporation that has been owned and operated by the same two principals (Dennis R. and Alice E.) since its inception in 1978. At that time, our primary sales focused on the design, engineering and installation of fire suppression systems such as halon, CO2 and restaurant kitchen hoods. In 1979, D.R. Ebel relocated to the Northwest Ohio which afforded the company the ability to expand its product lines with a number of quality distributorships already reserved in the Detroit area. With the 1983 acquisition of a fire equipment company in the Sandusky, Ohio area, our sales and service area doubled. It became necessary for all of our service vehicles to be radio dispatched for the convenience of our customers. Because our home base was in Northwood, Ohio (a suburb of Toledo), it was an economically sound decision. In 1985, a new division was formed at D.R. Ebel to provide police and fire departments with all of their equipment needs. At that time, we also began installing and servicing emergency equipment in vehicles. We purchased our present location in Northwood in October of 1992. Because of the company’s continued growth and the great demand for our diverse product lines, two subsequent expansions were necessary. We launched our catalog division in late 1997 in order to expand our market to a multi-state area. Overseas sales began in early 1998 with the advent of our Web site. Because of increased demands for sales and service, our new Web site has allowed us to expand our service area for all of northwestern Ohio. Because of the capability of our Web site, we are able to serve customers through sales all over the world. Our sales associates, service technicians and managers continually focus on meeting the needs of our customers with our mission statement in mind. At D.R. Ebel, we are proud to have been selected to be a member of the PI (Police Installer) program, a select group hand-picked by Public Safety Equipment Inc. (Code 3) & Kustom Signals. This group meets annually to discuss and set standards in our industry as it relates to after-market equipment installed on public-safety vehicles. We also set ourselves apart from the competition by providing radar certification. In addition, we are an authorized repair center for Federal Signal and a regional repair center for both Streamlight Flashlights and Kustom Signals.
