My 1950 Mercury speedometer was repaired in the past with JB Weld aparently. Why anyone would do that since the unit is so hard to remove is a little of a puzzle to me, but someone did. I have owned and driven this car extensivly since 1996. Little did I know the JB Weld was holding up alright. The speedometer was always slow, odometer fine, speed always behind. I have just received the unit back today and the whole case drive has been replaced with a new old stock S/W unit. Very impressive! The S/W box appears to be 62 years old while the unit looks brand new. Bill sent the old part also and I may keep it partly because the box is so nice to see. The unit is well lubricated and calibrated per Bill,s billing information. I'll install it in two days from now (time scheduled) and can easily expect perfection. It is a pleasure dealing with a professional.
