In the early 1960s there was quite a spiritual awakening in the United States. This was due to Billy Graham's evangelistic crusades and the Charismatic Movement. Many came to the Lord and were hungry for spiritual food. The Normal Christian Life by Watchman Nee was published in the United States and instantly it was used by the Lord in helping many souls. In view of the great need for spiritual literature, especially for the clear messages given through God's servant Watchman Nee, Christian Fellowship Publishers was formed in 1968. Its purpose was and still is to supply the English- speaking world with the solid teaching of Christ as presented in Watchman Nee's messages. It is a ministry, not a business, though managed as a business, it is not-profit and aims at giving Christians affordable and healthy spiritual food. The first book it published was The Spiritual Man released in the year 1968.
Book after book by Watchman Nee was translated and published. The Publishers translated directly from Watchman Nee's works already published in Chinese. Some even were manuscripts yet to be published in Chinese. Some were gleaned, translated or compiled from the personal notes by various saints as they listened to the speaking of Watchman Nee. In the translations the Publishers made every effort to be faithful in giving the exact meaning of the original Chinese, and at the same time made every effort to retain the original flavor of the messages delivered.
In 1972 the Publishers were moved from New York City to Washington, DC and then in 1979 were finally relocated to the present address in Richmond, VA. The Publishers' staff thank God for having been granted the privilege of serving God's people with the good revelational Christian literature. It is their prayer that through this literature God's own will be better prepared for the imminent return of our dear Lord Jesus Christ.
