This facility is helpful in many ways. My chief complaint is the fact that Tri-CAP contracts the feeding of its residents to a company by the name of Canteen Services. I understand that this is a correctional facility. The fact remains that the residents/inmates are human beings. Having to worry about being hungry or the small amount of food that is provided is barely edible. The menu that Canteen Services has posted claims that they provide a 2500 calorie per day diet. This may in fact be true provided that the portions match what is on the menu. So many times I have seen myself and others get shorted. When brought to the attention of Tri-CAP administration via the grievance procedure, it was stated that the issue would be addressed. Nothing would change and if it did it would, the changes would not last. At one point I was told that I would face disciplinary action if I filed another grievance against Canteen Services. It seems as though Tri-CAP administration has zero accountability when it comes to the nutritional aspects of thier facility. I had to wait until I successfully completed the program and returned home to voice these issues. I hope that people will take notice to what I have stated. I know that they receive money from the county/state for the housing of residents. Someone needs to hold this institution accountable.
