A classic Queen Anne home, built in the late 1890s and now an art gallery and cultural museum. The Catherine V. Yost Museum and Arts Center is a living museum and a local art center for the non-performing arts. The Yost House is a three-story, wood-framed structure built for Z. F. Yost, a Pontiac (IL) attorney. Begun in 1898, this Queen Anne-style house rests on the north bank of the Vermilion River, providing a clear view of the river below and behind the house. Visitors enjoy that same scenery today, filtered through the many trees and shrubs which offer a haven for visiting songbirds and waterfowl. Nearly all of the Yost family possessions remain in the house, some of which date back to the 1850s, reminding visitors of the rich and varied cultural interests of its inhabitants. Open to the public by appointment.
