I had two problems. The first was the well pump had died. 410 feet down the well is where the pump sits and it died during the Christmas holidays. The second was some broken pipes. The heat tape stopped working and there were pipes that froze. 3 separate breaks. I had 2 other companies come and check the well. One charged me 75 for parts. They said the control box needed replacing. 75 for parts and 120 for the service call. I was dumbfounded when it did not function and they then said the pump needed replacement and would cost 4,500.00. They were just replacing parts without knowing what was wrong The second company came and said the heat tape was working and quickly replaced the break in the water lines. 125 was a fair price. 2 days later the lines re-broke as the heat tape was NOT working. They did not do wells. I went to Lowes and fixed the pipes myself for 15 dollars. I called Desert Oasis. I should have from the start but was trying companies closer to where I lived. It is a 20 mile drive for the Desert Oasis technician to drive each way. Dumb mistake. It took maybe 15 minutes before he found the broken wire that led to the control box. He ran checks on the pump 410 feet down, it was fine. He gave a few stories about non-working heat tape in hard freezes and told me how to throw them into a freezer and check their function each season. Cost me 100 for his time and labor including the drive each way.
