Our experience building a new home in Bellaire, TX has been a disaster from the day we agreed to sign a residential construction contract with RG HOMES. We were grossly overcharged and had the charges hidden from us until it was too late to do anything about it. This was done in several ways, including misapplying invoices to the wrong budget category, using draws to disguise known charges, excessive daily rates for paint, tile and cabinet/trim labor, and leading us to believe the project was on budget when the builder knew it wasn’t. We recently had an inspection done and learned that the quality of work at our home was below the industry standard for residential construction, especially for a high end home. The report identified substantial issues across the board from the foundation to the roof. When we asked the builder to correct the mistakes through the process outlined in the TX Residential Construction Liability Act, we were told that we would have to pay extra for most of the corrections because they were considered punch work which would be performed directly by the builder at daily rates, as opposed to subcontractors simply standing behind their work and fixing their mistakes at no additional cost. Paying for the builder’s mistakes was a recurring theme on our project, an obvious conflict of interest!!

A home is the most important purchase of our life, and working with this company my family has had the most unpleasant experience we could possibly ask for. There is almost no communication or quality control with the builder and we were forced to visit our home daily. The super that was given to us had very little or non new home construction experience and had no notes in meetings nor rarely completed corrections from subs mistakes. We found a lack of budget control and transparency and a lack of attention to detail as well as making this the most painful experience of our life as well as continued quality control issues. There is mold on the beams.
