I recently hired Jack Bent of Jack Bent Designs to complete a bathroom remodel in our new home. In the beginning Jack made a lot of promises he ultimately never made good on. Work was going on, albeit slowly, up to the point we discovered materials we had paid Jack to purchase, were never purchased and instead those funds were misappropriated on god knows what. Jack took thousands of dollars to purchase things like countertops, vanities, mirrors, shower glass and more. Nothing was purchased at all, we discovered too late. After discovering the fact that Jack had completely mishandled our funds I did confront him regarding this issue and he has refused to say where he spent our money or provide any kind of accounting on what was spent on our home with our own money, which wasn't much. Looking back there were many times Jack lied directly to my face. Jack may be a nice guy to your face but he is incredibly dishonest and has no problem taking thousands of dollars, misappropriating those funds and having no remorse after the fact. Once it was clear what he had done, he attempted blaming as many people as he could to avoid responsibility and in the end he simply stated that he has no money, as if that was the end of it. He doesn't answer his phone any more and has done his level best to avoid any kind responsibility for what he has done. When I think about the amount of money he was paid and the condition he left our home in I can only say, this not a person or business any one should trust or do business with as he is truly one of the most dishonest and cowardly people I have ever come across. I only hope this serves as a warning to anyone else who may be considering hiring him. If you are looking to hire Jack ask if he will list me as a reference if he tells you this has been cleared up.
