In response to the 2010 Haitian earthquake, I designed a new form of emergency shelters made of large diameter pipe or composite panels. As a structure the tubular form is inherently resistant to hurricane force winds and is among the strongest structures to withstand seismic activity. Its low cost and superior strength is ideally suited for emergency relief for temporary and long-term housing solutions. The TESS system, made from composite panels can be built atop pontoons or on deck barges creating instant cities.
