Antigens are coupled to an immunotargeting protein ex vivo, which routes them, upon injection, to the immune system via circulating red blood cells. The result is greater immunity, substantial dose-sparing and no need for other adjuvants. This enabling technology is being developed for near-term revenues in the immunization of mice for monoclonal antibody generation, for custom antibody production in various animal species, for animal health vaccines, and ultimately for human vaccines (prophylactic, therapeutic, bioterrorism, etc.). The same red blood cell targeting also enhances toxin clearance from the blood by antitoxin antibodies.
