Keith Waller, of Metal Pro Roofing, sent me an email on April 3rd, 2014 with a detailed diagram of how they install the pitch transitions such as the one on the roof of our home. No caulk/sealant was applied to the vertical gap between the Z-closures (under the transition/apron flashing) and the panel ribs (to keep water from blowing under the metal panels), and no end dams were installed on any panels (a secondary defense against water infiltration).
