Aequor owns patents on 17 novel marine microbes and their derivatives. The extracts are non-toxic and highly effective for anti-biofilm and fouling.
Aequor's Founder discovered novel marine microbes, including a new genus and several new species, that produce chemicals that control bacteria in a new way. They inhibit the ability of bacteria to attach to surfaces and colonize under "biofilm" -- an impenetrable matrix that shields the colony from biocides, antibiotics and the human immune system. Aequor's chemicals also remove existing biofilms, which are the root cause for microfouling (corrosion, scale, contamination), macro fouling (attachment of barnacles, mussels, and algae to surfaces in contact with water), and infection and contamination of clinical surfaces, devices, and human tissues. The CDC associate biofilm with 90% of hospital-acquired infections. Every bacteria on the list of potential pandemics (cholera, pneumonia, flu, Legionella, Salmonella, E.coli, Listeria, plague, etc.), bio-threats (anthrax), and drug-resistance (MRSA, MDR-TB) is a biofilm-former.
Aequor's purified, elucidated and synthesized its primary molecule so that production can it be scaled up. Lonza validated its unmatched efficacy. It can be added in various concentrations in sprays, washes, gels, paints/coatings for broad antibiofilm and antifouling applications in major agroindustrial and healthcare sectors as a substitute for toxic biocides.
Aequor's business model is to sell its chemical directly to buyers along the biocide industry value chain (chemical manufacturers, end use product formulators). Aequor will also sell licenses in narrowly-defined sectors and territories.
Aequor has already signed agreements with 14 leaders in major verticals for proof of concept testing of the efficacy of the primary molecule in end use products, including anti-fouling marine paint for ship hulls, etc.; water treatments and washes for reverse osmosis filters used in desalinization, algae/biofuel production, aquaculture netting, and therapeutics (anti-infectives, anti-plaque, etc.).
For industry, use of Aequor's primary molecule will extend the life of capital equipment and reduce operational inefficiencies, including up to 50% fuel consumption and corresponding CO2 emissions. For agriculture, Aequor's primary molecule will reduce the need for toxic fungicides and pesticides. For healthcare, Aequor's primary molecule will save lives, reduce healthcare costs and needless suffering, and reduce triggering further bacterial resistance.
Aequor additionally offers biofilm testing services to third parties.
