I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT recommend Daniel McDowell of Venture Appraisals. I recently had an appraisal completed by Mr. McDowell on my property, and I can unequivocally state that he DOES NOT understand the market for "like new" construction. He is not at all well versed in the market trends nor does he have a qualified understanding of how to chose comparable properties. He did not perform Market Sales Analysis and compared our home to homes of inferior quality, less upgrades, and a home significantly older. Mr. McDowell DOES NOT understand the housing market. He chose the wrong comps, and, therefore, his appraisal is wrong. I had a certified appraiser review his work and he stated that the comp selection is fundamentally incorrect. He further had a USPAP violation in his report. Appraisals are so important, and the hiring of a qualified and knowledgeable appraiser may be the most important monetary decision a homeowner will make. This flawed appraisal cost my family a great deal of money.
