In business since 1996, Sociosights Press is the brainchild of Debra Winegarten. She received her master's degree in sociology with a specialization in qualitative research and ethnomethodology. Debra strives to tell the stories of interesting people, with a focus on women in Texas history. In 2011, her book, "There's Jews in Texas?" won the 2011 Poetica Magazine chapbook contest. In addition to her love for writing, Debra's total passion is marketing. She often quips that she writes books as a "marketing delivery device" because the give her a chance to schmooze with people. Indeed, she has sold out the first printing of every book she's ever written, and sold out two printings of "Katherine Stinson: The Flying Schoolgirl," which she still buys back on ebay and resells again, and again.
