CGFO is a (non-federal) program established to support, educate, and advocate for for Coast Guard families, with a strong focus on the spouses. Coast Guard Family Organization (''CGFO'') is a nonprofit corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, all of whom are private US citizens. The Board is geographically spread throughout the United States and Europe. The organization was originally founded in 2008 and first incorporated in 2009. At this time, the organization is not a 501(c)(3) organization despite its nonprofit status. The Board is currently working toward tax exempt status, which purpose will be to benefit donors in the way of tax deductible matters and also to enable the organization to apply for various grants to better support our mission.
