Cardiothoracic Vascular Surgeon Dr. Messner completed his cardiothoracic residency under the direction of Dr. Denton Cooley at the world renowned Texas Heart Institute. In addition to training in thoracic surgery at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Messner also has completed additional training in heart failure, mechanical assist devices and cardiac transplantation by Dr. O.H. Frazier. He has special expertise in the areas of coronary artery bypass surgery, thoracic surgery, valve, aneurysm, cartoid, and peripheral artery surgery including minimally invasive and off-pump techniques.
