In 2002, Karen D. Clawson began raising more books for her children's school library, creating Bring a Book, Bring a Friend(r) Fun'raisers, a book drive, in her own home in 2003 with the support of parents and staff. She began Friends of the School Library soon after. The Fun'raisers were immediately successful and became an annual event.
