In 2002, Karen D. Clawson began raising more books for her children's school library, creating Bring a Book, Bring a Friend(r) Fun'raisers, a book drive, in her own home in 2003 with the support of parents and staff. She began Friends of the School Library soon after. The Fun'raisers were immediately successful and became an annual event. Due to strong community support and increasing requests by schools and organizations, K is for Kids(r) Foundation was launched five years later. K is for Kids(r) has continued to grow in its outreach and programs, "bringing books to kids everywhere," while promoting children's literacy and leadership. The Teen Advisory Team is the energy and inspiration driving their cause -- K is for Kids(r) is truly for the kids and by the kids.
