It is the most unique culinary experience in East Tennessee. "The Mill" sits atop a hill overlooking a dam and waterfall on Big Creek. In the year 1781 Capt. Thomas Amis (Revolutiuonary War Hero) was given a land grant in then North Carolina, now Rogersville, Tennessee. He built a saw mill, distillery, dam, stone fort and many other structures. Such famous people as Andrew Jackson, John Sevier, Bishop Francis Asbury etc...stayed at the Amis Compound before heading into the wilderness. Jake and Marc Jacobs (Thomas' 6th Great Grandson) carry this tradition on today with Amis Mill Eatery. The restaurant sits overlooking a waterfall and Big Creek. The menu is extensive and features the area's best steaks, seafood, cajun, BBQ and Southern cuisine. Homemade desserts round out the dining experience and their mascot "Tess" (a Chesapeake Bay retriever) welcomes everyone. There is "It's not just a meal, it's an experience."
