Raul and his crew are laying fiber in my neighborhood. As typical, residents didn't receive any heads up that this construction would be going on. Raul is the lead for this construction. Raul ran boring machinery on my property and over the water meter box which busted the water meter inside the meter box. When he busted the water meter, water came shooting out of the ground like you see in cartoons. Raul clearly saw it, moved the machinery forward to take a look, then decided it was appropriate to move the machiney back over the water meter and proceeded to finish his job. The water leaked for over an hour before they called the city to come out and take a look. This is documented in the city report. I wasn't home at the time all of this happened. I have security cameras mounted to the exterior of my home and have everything they did on footage. After calling the city to see why my water had been shut off, I was informed about the damage Raul caused on my property. Luckily, the city annotated the company Raul works for so I could give the company a call to find out what happened. Raul was apparently the lead on the job but failed to leave any information for me so I could contact him about the damage he caused. He said he let the city know and he figured that alone was acceptable. Raul didn't want to take responsibility even though he clearly caused the water meter to bust, I have it all on camera. He denied that they broke it and stated it was leaking before they started. If that were the case then why wait so long to call the city? If you knew it was leaking why would you run heavy machinery over compromised piping/housing? Raul was adamant about sticking to his lie and even said he had pictures of it and that he would send to me later on in the day. He never sent any pictures, probably because they don't exist. Raul even said he would come by on Monday to show me his pictures. Again, he never did because they don't exist and he knows he is in the wrong. Luckily the city was able to fix it relatively quickly and will be adjusting my next water bill since Raul let the water leak for over an hour. What is a shame is the fact that this repair is now coming out of tax payer dollars when it should be coming out of the pocket of Raul's company or his pocket himself. I spoke with local plumbers that came out to take a look at the damage and they even said that this type of incident happens often, unfortunately. The city should go after Raul and his company for the cost of damages. They need to be held accountable for their lack of attention to detail and just general common courtesy. Raul, if you read this, be better at your job and as a person next time. Apologize and leave your information on the door where you caused damage. Also, tell your crew to pick up their trash and cigarette butts next time they are doing work on someone's property. Absolutely disrespectful. I do not recommend this company.
