Windy has been repairing wind instruments since 1992. She received her degree in band instrument repair from Red Wing Technical College, Red Wing Minnesota (1996). Repairs include the following: • Free Estimates • Removing a stuck cleaning cloth or swab (free) • Replacing tenon corks • Replacing key corks • Complete re-padding or single pad replacement • Removing a stuck mouthpiece (free) • Removing stuck tuning slides • Soldering broken joints • Repairing valve problems on brass instruments • Adjustments to make most band instruments play more accurately In shop services also involve chemically cleaning brass instruments using a three-step process. This chemical cleaning process can completely remove all lime and scale deposits that can cause “red-rot” (internal deterioration and permanent damage) on a brass instrument. The focus is primarily on the play-ability of the instrument rather than cosmetic improvements. The shop does not do cosmetic work or re-lacquering. Minor dents that do not affect the proper function of the instrument are often not cost effective to fix since they do not alter tone quality.
