Conceived January 1st, 2008 by Shirley S. Reid, Ebony's Treasures centers on gifts with heart, meaning, and purpose. The idea of creating a website to sell such items came after a failed attempt at working with an invention support company to produce and sell a very unique jewelry item designed to commemorate loved ones. The idea of creating a website to sell such items came after a failed attempt at working with an invention support company to produce and sell a very unique jewelry item designed to commemorate loved ones. In March of 2008, the attention shifted a little from focus on the jewelry item to focus on a situation that seemed more pressing, our Troops in Iraq. The heart breaking story released March 30, 2008 about Iraq's first MIA, Sergeant Keith Matthew Maupin, sparked an idea to create a T-shirt for the Wear Red on Fridays to Show Troop Support awareness. Ebony's Treasures was officially formed April 22, 2008. Website officially launched May 17th, 2008 (Armed Forces Day).
