The city of Muncie is also home to the 955-acre campus of Ball State University. Some notable alumni from the state's third largest campus are Jim Davis, creator of the comic strip "Garfield," and TV icon David Letterman. Muncie is a half-day's drive from 60 percent of the nation's population.
