Jim Kniffen
· May 20
I have worked with Jim Kniffen for 15 years. I do SBA loans and have done them nationwide for 22 years. I met Jim through a mutual banking colleague. Jim owned a successful Merger & Acquisition Firm in Thousand Oaks, California. Over the years, I have worked on about 50 business acquisition deals with Jim. Jim is, par none, the best Merger & Acquisition professional in the industry. In part, due to his experience, knowledge and expertise; but also due to a desire and ability to educate himself so thoroughly that he adds value to every transaction. Jim’s experience is highly valued, but he adds other ingredients that take his service to a higher level. It is Jim’s approach to his work that makes him extraordinary. What is simultaneously challenging and rewarding about selling businesses is that you work with 2 parties (seller & buyer) who have starkly contrasting needs and goals. In addition to the business side and the “numbers”, there is an emotional side to selling and to buying a business. On the seller’s side, they are emotionally and personally attached to the business they have grown over decades. On the buyer’s side, they experience fear of risk and the unknown. Often during a transaction, negotiations can break down and progress is stalled. With Jim at the helm, deals may be delayed, but not derailed. I can’t say enough positive things about Jim’s leadership skills, and I count myself very fortunate to know and work with Jim. Sincerely, Rita Mitchell
