In 2012, Sean McAteer got tired of working for the man, and decided to follow the American Dream of giving up his vacation and health insurance to run his own business. And thus, Hillside Bar was born.
Hillside Bar opened its doors on Capitol Hill on December 8, 2012. It quickly became a favorite neighborhood hangout for locals who just want to, well, hang out.
Hillside is a come-as-you-are kind of place. So come, as you are, and have a drink.

Hoping to resurect its history of being a well-patronized, much loved and familiar place where conversation, personalities and local charm dominate rather than glitzy gimmicks. Hopvine Pub is one of Seattle's oldest pubs on Capitol Hill, serving over 27 beers on tap daily. Great pizza, salads, soups and sandwiches. Lunch and dinner daily, along with a happy hour daily and outdoor seating in front. A great little homey neighborhood bar harkening back to older Seattle. A definite local gem. Great food. You’ll be surprised.
