I can not tell you more emphatically to STAY AWAY from Mathis Heating, and from Bill himself.
He never showed up on time (I mean NEVER) -- in fact -- sometimes he showed up hours late or not at all. He provided sloppy work that our contractor had to come through and fix once he was FINALLY gone 6 weeks after he was supposed to complete it. He lied through his teeth about when he'd be coming to do the job -- we got every excuse from sickness, sickness of family members, 3-hour traffic jams (when there was no traffic in the city), car chases that ended in his front yard and blocked him from getting out???, old people losing their heat and being flooded... it was absolutely ridiculous.
He tried to get away with shorting us more money at the end of the project, he took shortcut after shortcut during the job (left holes in the side of my house, ductwork unsecured from the ceiling, unsecured vent piping to the outside of the house, a duct opening that allowed you to look straight up into a bedroom above it), and was completely incapable of allowing us our personal space or showing any decency. He was consistently showing up at 5 or 6 pm and working into the night (which was unacceptable and a complete violation of our space considering we gave him every opportunity to show up during the day AND communicated our preference). DO NOT HIRE
