He took all the money and did not complete the work. Contract called for over 1/3 upfront, then demanded another $700 a few weeks later...etc. Got all the money, did some of the work, then called to say he had decided not to complete the work and hung up. Checks had to be made out to him, not the company, and were cashed at a take out beer store, not deposited in any personal or business account. OFten did not answer or return calls to him. Mortar did not match. Left a huge mess in the yard which we seniors had to attempt to clean up ourselves...wood, bricks, mortar, hardened mortar in half-used bags, etc. Ignored attempts by Angie's List and metropolitan newspaper he advertises in to get him to complete the work.
