My husband and I were trying to purchase a house owned by Call investments, specifically Carl Gennusa was selling it. In short, it was a nightmare. We were pre-approved by another lender and he insisted we be pre-approved by First United Mortgage which is a company he is also affiliated with. He was very difficult to work with and would not budge on his terms. After having an inspection done on the house it was found out the roof needed immediate repair/replacement which would run about $20,000 and he would not do anything to remedy that. He would not replace the roof, he would not lower the price of the house, and he would not even offer to pay part of the replacement. His listing agent said the house was the absolute best priced home on the market and that was not true. It was on the market for months and is still on the market. My husband and I have since found a new house and our inspector said the house we are looking at now is twice the house that Carl was trying to sell and only for a few thousand dollars more. It is quite frustrating we had to pay for an inspection on Carl's house because he did not have a sellers disclosure even though it was apparent he knew the roof was bad. And our inspector took pitty on us and gave us a break on the second inspection of the second home. Carl did a wonderful job of updating the home cosmetically but he avoided all structural issues. My agent will stay far away from any house being sold by him or his company.
