Yesterday, I had the privilege of meeting and hiring lake response and owner Derek for a extremely critical job. It seemed that a third party mistakenly set a boat adrift in Lake Norman that I was responsible for. At about 15 min. before dark, I goggled a tow co. and made a call to Lake Response, owner/op. Derek answered. We discussed my plight and quickly agreed to a extremely fair flat rate price. Within minutes, he was on his way, also I might add that I could only vaguely describe where to start. Seems we were 45 minutes from where they park there vessel, and within the hour, he was searching. He knows his territory! By this time it is pitch black and I can only imagine what it was like trying to find a black dot in the black night. As time wore on, I continued to fear the worse. Yes the potential liability if it made it to the dam, or god forbid if somebody was to run into it. But also remember we, discussed a flat rate; that was to come over, hook to it, and take it to ramp. Not search all night and at what point does he terminate the search. After several hours, he called and said he had found the vessel and would meet me at the ramp, bring it in, and make sure we had it secured. And now for the bill. He stuck to the original quoted fee. Now that is just excellent business. He could have charged anything, and we would have had to pay. But to go above and beyond the call of duty, and stick to the quote!!! 5 stars Mr Derek!
