The Bar Method was founded and created in 2001. The creator, Burr Leonard, worked directly with Lotte Berk, the mastermind behind the ballet-barre workout.
The Bar Method was founded and created in 2001. The creator, Burr Leonard, worked directly with Lotte Berk, the mastermind behind the ballet-barre workout. Burr Leonard owned three Lotte Berk Method studios in the Northeast in the 1990s. There are no longer Lotte Berk Method studios, but Burr wanted to continue to share her passion for the method so she created The Bar Method in 1991, and opened the flagship studio in San Francisco.
