I found Maine Antique Furniture several years back and as I live in BC, Canada was won over by the owner John Julia's friendly demeanor over the phone, making me feel assured that I was doing business with a respectable business. My first order of 3 pieces went quite smoothly. I was quite pleased with the furniture although some did later turn out to be poorly glued. Since then I felt confident enough to place a larger order worth USD5100.00. I carefully read through the companies policies on layaways and refunds made my final payment for the shipment in April of 2016. For two months I tried to have the fully paid for furniture shipped to me as I did before but all my emails and calls were ignored. Finally I received a note from the person who takes care of accounts, telling me that she was arranging white glove delivery to my house. This was in August, 5 months after my final payment. Again, no follow up after several attempts to contact and arrange delivery. In Dec I contacted John Julia, the owner to see if I should be worried and he laughed, called me his 'buddy' and promised that everything was fine. I could see that I had been scammed. In February I asked for a refund of my $5100 USD. My emails were ignored. He came back stating that he would be back to me in a week as his father died, so I waited again. The following week, no call or email from John. It's now April 2017 and John has just told me that I cannot have a refund, despite his policy offering one. BEWARE!
