After a distinguished careers in Human Resources and the Law, husband and wife team Bonnie and Josh Jones decided to embark on a new journey- mediation. For almost a decade they worked side-by-side at University of Tennessee's Institute for Public Service, providing training, consulting, and publications to cities in Tennessee. Josh served as the legislative liaison reviewing every single bill proposed by the Tennessee legislature, then analyzing the consequences on local government for the citizens of the state. While at UT he enjoyed writing bills and amendments and working in partnership with Tennessee Municipal League (TML). Bonnie served as a Human Resources consultant in the same department and they thrived serving the communities in their roles. Bonnie brings a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Human Resources with almost 20 years of HR experience, employment law, publication writing, and training and development to ETMS. Bonnie and Josh are well known public speakers and are passionate about integrity and hard work. It was always a neat balance watching Josh and Bonnie work together to tackle an array of community issues. With that work ethic and their areas of complimenting expertise- a new partnership was formed, and they both decided to pursue a dream of working for themselves while continuing to serve the public. The Jones team has proudly announced the formation of their new company East Tennessee Mediation Services, the premiere dispute resolution service in East Tennessee, located in the heart of Maryville. Josh still runs his own law firm, Point Counsel and will continue to do work for his clients in a separate capacity. Bonnie also runs a successful photography studio and plans to continue to pursue her passion of photography as time permits. "Traditionally, the law has been based on an adversarial system. Every dispute was a zero-sum game where participants were pitted against each other in a legal battle, which inevitably concluded with a winner and a loser.
