Olive Tree Counseling offers individual, group, couples, and career counseling. Olive Tree Counseling offers a variety of comprehensive services. I utilize a holistic approach to treatment. We examine presenting problems, family dynamic, and our relationship with others and with our environment. We also examine connectedness to our family, community, world at large, and universe. In addition, we explore the lifestyle of an individual such as sleep, exercise, and dietary habits. Though I am not a dietitian, I would be willing to make recommendations which clients could further discuss with their physician. Olive Tree Counseling holds the premise that there is a strong mind-body connection, where one cannot heal the one without the other. Physical activity and exercise, as supported by extensive research, can have substantial effects on mood, decreasing everyday bad mood and stress. Physical activity offers treatment effects for diagnosed depression and anxiety that rivals a psychotropic approach (medication). Though I strongly recommend physical activity and exercise as an important approach to treatment of mood disorders (depression, bi-polar disorders), anxiety disorders (including phobias and panic disorders), insomnias, and stress reduction, please know that I am not talking about rigorous exercise. Simple walking for thirty minutes a day can contribute to elevation of mood and reduction of anxiety. Individual, group, couples counseling, meditation and/or stress reduction sessions can be held outside of the office and in parks, as exposure to fresh air and nature are equally beneficial in the treatment. Olive Tree Counseling offers individual, group, couples, and career counseling for adults, seniors, and teenagers. Diagnoses such as mood disorders, anxiety disorders, phobias, panic disorders, obsession compulsive disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder, acute stress disorder, as well as issues related to work/job dissatisfaction are all treatable conditions in which Olive Tree Counseling specializes. Counseling modalities used include Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, as well as a mix of existential approaches.
