All I needed was copy keys, however, nearly every other hardware store I visited denied service to me stating that the key belonged to a high security lock and was difficult to duplicate. Okay, I joined Online tonight just to leave this review. The dispatcher and David the locksmith were both awesome, really helpful and nice. It took about 20 minutes for him to arrive, and he explained each method he tried, and some information about my type of lock. The last time I had to have a lock opened, the guy took one look at my door (same one) and told me it had to be drilled, then charged $200 to do it. I was left with the replacement bill from my landlord, too. I told the General Locksmith Store folks about this, and they confirmed it's a common scam. I needed a top lock with a plate cover and not really knowing what locksmiths do besides let you in when you're locked out I didn't realize at first that I needed to call one. When i check online its help me to find General Locksmith Store and thank goodness. Scott set up an appointment for a few days later, called the day of to let me know how his schedule was going, showed up early with warning, and did an all around awesome job. Afterward he explained to me what he'd done and why and made sure everything was working for me before he left. The flat fee meant no surprises. These guys are the best.

Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I had locked ourselves out of our new apartment a day after moving in. After hearing so many horror stories of shady locksmiths, we were worried about being taken for a ride. David was everything other reviewers have said - he charged a flat fee, even took a little off because he couldn't be here immediately. Really, we couldn't thank him enough for helping us out when we were in such a tight spot. Pretty much the best experience I've had in the city, period. They were friendly and accommodating towards my schedule. Arrived on time, installed my top lock in 20 minutes, barely made a mess, and didn't mind me asking questions about the whole process. $100.00 + Tip = totally worth it. After stupidly locking myself out of our bedroom, I called around and General Locksmith Store was the most reasonably priced ($99.00) and available to come out within 20 min. He was able to unlock the door easily with a contraption I wish I owned. Offered to create a new key for the lock although I passed. Going to change the handle out for one that doesn't lock instead.

I don't normally write reviews but I was so impressed by the service I figured I had to share. Found General Locksmith Store online because of their rave reviews, loved that they displayed prices online, and after writing then about setting up an appointment, Jerry replied almost immediately and we set up an appointment for the next day. Jerry showed up on time actually 3 min early and went to work. Apparently my door has some issues because it is crooked but Jerry made it work and reassured me that it was still super safe. Price was exactly what was displayed online so there were no surprises. I would 100% recommend them to anyone, General Locksmith Store are the BEST in Elmwood Park, NJ !!!!
