Denise A. Baylis is the founder of Open Door Educational Consultants LLC, in New Rochelle, NY, serving Westchester and Rockland Counties and the NYC Metro Area. Denise also often works long distance with students and parents via Skype. A Passion Becomes a Career and On Going Education Denise discovered her passion for College Counseling while guiding her own two sons on their very different paths to college. She recognized the stress and pressures that teens—and parents—experience during the college search and admissions process. After talking to many other students and parents, Denise recognized the need for knowledgeable and professional guidance. Denise’s experience with her own sons, and her thorough research and interactions with many parents and students inspired her transition to educational consulting. Over the next two years Denise studied College Counseling through UCLA, earning a Certificate in College Counseling with Distinction, while concurrently working with high school and college transfer students, and providing pro bono college counseling services to financially disadvantaged students in her community. Finding the best college fit-logistically, academically, socially and financially--is the most important aspect of college search and admissions. As a former Vice President, Denise brings significant experience in Fortune 500 marketing, advertising, branding and promotion to this personalized college consulting practice. Understanding how colleges, universities and college programs brand themselves, how a student fits within those brands and his/her expression of that “fit’ are key aspects of the college admissions process. Our Students have been accepted to a wide variety of colleges and universities, including the Ivy League and other highly selective schools. Denise keeps her professional knowledge current by visiting colleges, attending conferences, keeping on top of of changes in educational consulting and college admissions and through professional networks, and identifies and evaluates related services for her clients, such as test prep companies and tutors. Denise lives in New Rochelle, NY with her husband and when they’re lucky, their two sons: Matt is a medical school student and Jordan is a recent graduate of the Charles E. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management at Cornell University. In 2013 she officially changed the name of her practice to Open Door Educational Consultants LLC
