First In Testing is operated for firefighters, by firefighters. Our operators and contributors have 'Climbed the Ladder' in their respective departments and seek to pass that knowledge and experience on to those who seek to follow in their mentors footsteps. We have a strong desire to provide quality tools to allow you to promote through the ranks, so you may achieve the position you are seeking.
There are three types of people that will sit for promotional exam, those that believe that their experience has prepared them, those that believe they do not need to prepare, and those that will get promoted. It all boils down to putting in the hours with the books and becoming comfortable with taking tough tests. It is absolutely necessary, to set a schedule for yourself and your studies. It is not unreasonable to set a goal of 6 hours of study at day, 6 days a week. Although this may seem daunting, you must remember that the hard work will pay off over the rest of your career. When you think you've had enough, remember your competition and the adage “The number 1 guy is studying right now”.
