Sea glass absolutely enchants me, and the thought of repurposing an item that has been washed and tumbled by the sea is very 'eco-conscious'! All of my sea glass has been sold to me as authentic, surf-tumbled sea glass; no 'recycled' glass here! All of my turquoise has been purchased from reputable dealers who can verify its origin, and the actual mine where it was produced. 'Generic' turquoise is labelled as either American, Mexican or Chinese, and howlite and magnesite are also marked. The American Southwest is featured in my designs, as I love the rustic look and history behind our Western and Native American heritages. Mother Nature has truly given us an array of natural stones and minerals in an array of colors and shades for me to work with; my aim is to show the stones to their very best advantage to provide interesting focus in my jewelry. I discovered Czech glass beads early in my jewelry making adventure, and they immediately won my heart. The varieties of size, color, shape, and finishes provide an almost endless stream of creative ideas for these beautiful beads! I love the ethnic, tribal designs from Africa, and feature Kazuri beads from Kenya, which is a Fair Trade product; all monies from these beautiful beads goes back to the villages to empower the women who make them.
