PLEASE BEWARE OF J. Lewis Construction! J Lewis Construction is a scam of a company that does terrible work and will take your money and run. We signed a contract with this company in late 2022 and it was the worst decision we ever made. The Owner, Jonathan Lewis, put on a great act to start. He seemed so trustworthy, professional, and honest. We hired Jonathan to do a whole house remodel for a home we just purchased in Buckhead. We signed a contract that guaranteed the cost, timeline (within reason), the use of trained and certified contractors, and a 3-year warrantee on all work done. Jonathan would take care of all inspections and closing out the permits. Within the first several weeks of the project there were already so many red flags. Contractors stopped showing up every day, then they stopped showing up completely. Jonatan started doing the majority of the work himself, and the work was of terrible quality. It was so obvious he was not qualified to be doing the work he did. Some of the work was so bad it needed to be ripped down and started from scratch. For example, Jonathan stopped using his professional tile guy and started doing all the tile work himself, resulting in the master bathroom and guest bathroom showers being done so poorly we had to rip them down and hire a new company to re-do them. He tried to do all the plumbing himself (he is not a licensed plumber) and he ended up flooding our guest bathroom and living room, multiple times. We ended up having to hire a licensed plumber ourselves to come and fix everything he did, at a cost of thousands of thousands of dollars. There are SO many more examples of the terrible work we had to fix ourselves, too much to list. All at our expense. The timeline started to slip drastically, and what was supposed to be an 8-week project according to our contract had turned into 4 months, with no end in sight. We gave J. Lewis Construction every opportunity to make things right, expressing our concerns MANY times, and trying to help him figure out a solution. He had too much of our money to fire him, but in hindsight I wish we would have just fired him and taken the loss. We just kept hoping he would do the right thing. When the project was only about 60% complete, Jonathan stopped coming to work on the house and refused to return our calls and emails. We came to find out after he ghosted us that he had lied about doing the necessary inspections needed for our permitThe paperwork of these inspections he put in our permit box were fakes. We were in complete shock and contemplated pressing charges. We had to hire new contractors to finish the job and fix a good portion of the work Jonathan did. We are still finding, after all these months, work Jonathan screwed up or failed to do at all. We are still having to pay to have workers out to fix his terrible work. It sometimes feels like this nightmare will never end. I have never written a Review for a company before, but people need to know what kind of deceptive and terrible company J Lewis Construction is before considering signing with them. Please do not let this happen to you.
