I am currently a vet tech student at Pima Medical Institute. I have been working with and watching dogs for the majority of my life, About Amanda D.: My name is Amanda, I live in Everett WA, I have reliable transportation and am willing to travel as far as 40 miles in any direction. I have many years of experience walking, sitting, doggy daycare etc... I am currently a student in the veterinary technician program at Pima Medical Institute, and am just weeks from graduation, So I am experienced working with all breeds, sizes, ages etc.... I have excellent references from other families I have worked with and would love to share those. How long have you been a dog lover? Tell us about your history with dogs. I have been a dog lover for longer than I can remember! My history with dogs is extensive, I have always owned dogs, including great danes in high school, I had a male and a female and as a freshman I did all of their training for basic obedience into the show ring, I have also owned boston terriers, golden retrievers, pugs,and pit bulls. My current best friends are a 10yr old Chihuahua named Lucy who I have had since she was 6 weeks, and a 2yr old german shepherd named Yogi. Yogi and I are currently training for agility trials. My love of dogs is also my primary reason for going into the veterinary medical field. What would you like to know about a dog before sitting him or her? Do you have any breed preferences? I love all breeds, and have in depth experience, walking, training, handling dogs of all shapes sizes and ages!!! Do you have reliable transportation in the event of an emergency? yes I own my car and have good insurance and an excellent driving record Are you comfortable administering medication? yes, I am very comfortable administering medication. I am 3 weeks from finishing my courses at PIMA medical institute in the veterinary technician program Are you willing to do additional tasks at my home while I'm away (e.g., water plants, bring in the mail)? absolutely, I have a lot of experience house sitting, I just ask for a detailed list either be left with me or explained to me before your departure :) How much time do you plan on spending with my dog each day? That really depends on the situation but generally speaking I like to take my temporary companions for a nice long walk in the morning spending between an hour to two with them and then when I get out of school I like to spend another few hours with the dogs just playing, having a pre bedtime walk and/or cuddling up. but again every situation is different and I am ready and willing to accommod
